Fireside with Lyndon Online: Indigenous Veterans

Ahead of Remembrance Day 2021, Lyndon J. Linklater included guests Stephen Ross and Hilliard Paul Kahpeaysewat for a discussion of their experiences and the important role First Nations people have played in the military, today and throughout history.

Stephen Ross is from the Montreal Lake Cree Nation and is the elected Grand Chief for the Saskatchewan First Nations Veterans Association. He served overseas during peacetime with the United Nations.

Hilliard Paul Kahpeaysewat is from the Moosomin First Nation and served in Afghanistan for one tour. Since his return to civilian life, he has held a few different jobs including serving as a Band Councillor for his First Nation. He is also an active member of the Saskatchewan First Nation Veterans Association.
