Adrian Stimson and Tarah Hogue: Online Conversation

Curator (Indigenous Art), Tarah Hogue and artist Adrian Stimson engage in a conversation on Stimson’s installation, Iini Sookumapi: Guess who’s coming to dinner (2019), which is on view as part of the exhibition An apology, a pill, a ritual, a resistance.

The work responds to an apology by Canadian artist AA Bronson for the harm caused by his ancestor, the Reverend John Williams Tims, an Anglican missionary who established the Old Sun Boarding School on the Siksika reserve in Alberta. Together, Hogue and Stimson discuss public apologies—their form, function and impacts—and the work that took place “behind-the-scenes” in the making of Iini Sookumapi.
